New: Art & Music Therapy

Have a passion for helping others? Check out these new programs, coming this fall:

Art Therapy
Certified art therapists blend art with the theories of counseling and psychotherapy to improve patients’ physical, mental and emotional well-being. Get all the education you need to join this growing profession by completing our accredited pre-art therapy program and Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling with Art Therapy Concentration. Pre-art therapy, taught by a practicing art therapist, will help you develop your personal art style and creative techniques. The master’s program will give you the clinical knowledge and practice you need for certification as an art therapist and licensure as a mental health counselor.

Music Therapy
If you have a passion for music, communications and helping others, now is the perfect time to explore UIndy’s new bachelor’s degree in music therapy. Music therapy restores mental, physical, emotional and spiritual development through evidence-based techniques that involve singing, listening, music theory and discussion. Besides working toward a meaningful career, the career outlook for music therapists just keeps growing. According to the National Association of Schools of Music, the number of students seeking music therapy degrees has increased 65 percent, from 1,706 to 2,811 during the last 10 years.
