Inside Scoop
The School of Nursing, the College of Health Sciences and the College of Applied Behavioral Sciences will host an emergency response simulation at Nicoson Hall and the UIndy Health Pavilion on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. Injured patients from Nicoson were initially "treated" by athletic trainers before being transported to the "emergency room" at the Health Pavilion. There they received nursing care and had consultations with students from physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychology and social workers. (Photo: D. Todd Moore, University of Indianapolis)
Emergency Simulation

The first moments following an injury can be critical, and for health professionals, it’s all about being prepared. UIndy students get the chance to practice their skills during emergency simulations. The patients are played by actors who interact with students from several disciplines: nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, psychology and social work. The result is an interprofessional collaboration that is integral to today’s trending model of healthcare.
