For years the advantage of playing on one’s home court has always been the goal of every sports team, from high schools to the pros.

Whether it’s the advantage in the crowd noise, the familiar settings, or a team’s ability to sleep in their own beds, most athletes and fans believe that playing at home will give them a leg up on the competition.

We haven’t taken an official stance on the matter. So we can’t guarantee that the hometown Colts will win the Super Bowl if they secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs (this year or next, when the game comes to Indy). What we do know is that UIndy‘s location provides students who are interested in a career in sports with an advantage over their competition across the country.

Since 1979, Indianapolis has hosted more than 400 national and international sporting events—including 17 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and 55 NCAA Championship events. Indianapolis is also home to 10 pro sports teams, the NCAA, and multiple sports-related headquarters.

With all these options for internships and employment, UIndy’s central Indiana location offers home court
advantage for students who hope to break into the sports profession.
