Ranked #1

It’s been a stellar year all around for the UIndy Greyhounds, with winter sports success good for a #9 national ranking in the NCAA Division II Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, even before the success of our spring teams. Most recently, the softball team has been on top; at press time the squad was ranked #1 in the region. The Hounds started the season 32-2. Follow the Hounds at athletics.uindy.edu.

Hold the presses

The University’s student newspaper, the Reflector, won six awards at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association competition: Best Special Issue, Best Special Section Front, Best News Photos, Best Editorials Cartoon, and Best Breaking News Story awards. Read it online at reflector.uindy.edu.

Boxtropolis creates awareness

Residents in Robert Hall wanted to inform the campus community about homelessness in Indianapolis. They created Boxtropolis, a “city” of cardboard boxes in the middle of campus, to get a sense of what it might be like to be without a home. The Boxtropolitans also collected food and supplies for a local mission.

Rewarding student excellence

The annual Recognition Banquet honors UIndy’s most active and community-minded students. The Black Student Association took Most Improved Student Organization honors, and the UIndy Pride won for Student Organization of the Year. Ananya Khan, whose semester at Oxford was featured in the last issue of Inside UIndy, was among winners of the Outstanding Senior Leadership Award.
