Pitch perfect

Seniors Daniel Dorsett and Daniel Watson (left) are ending their UIndy careers with a bang. Both Dorsett, a percussionist, and Watson, a pianist and vocalist, have picked up a 2015 Outstanding Future Music Educator award. The awards are bestowed by the Indiana Music Education Association, and both students were chosen because of their service in the music education field and excellent academic standing.

“UIndy’s Music Department has provided many practical experiences to help me grow as a music educator,” says Dorsett. He has led drum circles and taught percussion ensembles in the Indianapolis area. And thanks to the support of teachers, Watson has taught through the Pre-College Music Program & Keyboard Academy and accompanied ensembles in Indianapolis. “I am blessed and honored to carry on the legacy of UIndy’s music faculty,” he says. “Their teaching will always be a part of my teaching.”
