On the attack

Meet the leaders of UIndy’s new men’s and women’s lacrosse programs. Head coaches Greg Stocks and Jillian Howley are more than ready to launch their opening seasons in the spring of 2016. Their secret weapons? Records of coaching success, plus a strong group of new recruits who hail from 11 states and Canada. The sport, which some speculate is nearly 1,000 years old, is very popular on the coasts and is spreading to the Midwest as well.

UIndy’s Greyhound lacrosse team, in fact, is the first NCAA Division II team in Indiana. A new practice field for lacrosse, soccer, football, and intramurals is being installed this summer on the north side of campus and will be ready for action by mid-August, in time for the new school year.

Stocks speaks for both coaches: “We’re really looking forward to finally getting out on the field and actually starting to coach!”
